The term metadata gets thrown around a lot, but do you know what it actually looks like? An article on The Intercept on Apple’s “iMessage FAQ for Law Enforcement” included an example of what is contained in Apple’s pen register for messages sent with iMessage—which is also a good example of what metadata can look like.
